There are few things that speak the language of love better than music. Music has a way of unlocking emotions in even the most stoic of people (like myself). So, I couldn’t think of a better post for Valentine’s Day than spotlighting my favorite *Love* song.
Having grown up listening the music of the 80’s, I had several favorites to choose from, songs that were staples at weddings: Endless Love by Lionel Richie and Diana Ross, Longer by Dan Fogelberg, You’re the Inspiration by Chicago, When I’m With You by Sheriff, to name a few.
But, those weren’t THE favorite. Judging by the above-named songs, it should be no surprise that my favorite love song comes from a *hair* band, Petra. They were my favorite rock band throughout the late 80’s and early 90’s–actually I still love listening to their albums (yes, I mean vinyl), This Means War and Beyond Belief.
And my all-time favorite love song hails from Beyond Belief. Inspired by 1 Corinthians 13, this song is simply entitled, LOVE.
What is your all-time favorite love song?
***On a side note, for those of you like me who still love Petra, they’re going out on their 40th Anniversary Tour this year. See their current schedule <here>. I can’t wait to see them again! And my 20-year-old daughter is just as excited to see them for her first time.***

Here we go with the “favorites” again. Can’t do ‘er this time. Too too many. I will mention just one from my era just because:

It’s been years since I heard a Petra song. This is a good one, no doubt.
Oh, I know, it’s hard to choose, isn’t it? And my *favorites* list is very fluid–it changes with time. But Petra is timeless. 🙂
Well, there are a lot of great love songs, but I have one favorite. “You Raise Me Up.” I think the words of this song are timeless, and perfectly describe the wonder and beauty of a love and marriage relationship. It was the centerpiece song of our wedding. Everytime I hear it, it still gives me goosebumps.
Oh I love that song too! By Selah and by Josh Groban, both unique & beautiful interpretations that give goosebumps. It’s perfect for a wedding.
