Happy Book Birthday, Sounds Like a Plan!

Happy Release Day to Sounds Like a Plan: Stories of Change and the God Who Doesn’t!

I’m thrilled to be part of The Mosaic Collection’s latest anthology. Five authors are participating this time, and as usual, the stories are diverse and faith-filled and inspirational. It’s an honor to write alongside these award-winning authors.

My short story is one I hadn’t planned to write, but after spending a week on a retreat in Branson, MO with my Mosaic Sisters, I just had to tell Paige’s story in Mercy’s Detour.

About Mercy’s Detour ~

An unexpected detour leads to a long-hidden secret.

For years Paige Cunningham has dreamed of taking a road trip around the United States, and she’s finally ready. She sells her home and is about to begin her journey when a phone call sends her on a detour before she can pull out of the parking lot. But following this detour could lead to a painful destination Paige hoped she’d never revisit.

Acknowledgements ~

Every story, even the short stories, are not written as a solo adventure, so it’s important to remember those who journeyed beside me.

Road trips were definitely on my mind this spring when I penned Mercy’s Detour. I jotted my first notes for the story on a retreat to Branson, Missouri, with my beloved Mosaic sisters. Then the story came together quickly once I returned home. Thank you, dear sisters, for inspiring me to write those notes and this story. I look forward to taking more road trips to gather with you.

Talking about road trips… Stacy, we’ve been on this dementia journey that neither of us would have chosen. I love how God brought us together years ago when He knew what roads our lives would take. Thank you for reading Paige’s story and for the wisdom you offered in its telling.

As someone who sees a big picture and not the small details, I’m indebted to my editors, Lesley Ann McDaniel Editing and Deb Elkink. Thank you for spotting all those errors that don’t leap out at me and for helping to polish this story.

My sister, Gayle, has been the first reader for each of my stories, each time reading the ugliness of early drafts. Thank you, once again, for reading Paige’s story and for your continuous encouragement.

Though my husband Marvin is no longer able to read my stories, I’m grateful for his continued support and encouragement in penning them, even when it takes time away from us.

And to the One who is in the driver’s seat for our life’s journey. I’m grateful for the stories You continue to give me to tell. I pray that in the telling, I don’t become too much of a back seat driver. You are the Way, the Truth, and the Life!
