Yesterday was a good day–no, make that a great day for my writing career!
It began with an e-mail stating that my website was up and I was free to personalize it. It’s still a work-in-progress, but I’m having fun learning and tinkering.
And then, shortly after noon, I received the call my gut told me I wasn’t going to get: My Contemporary Romance is a semi-finalist in the ACFW Genesis contest for unpublished authors! I truly was speechless.
After hanging up, I called my loudest cheerleader, my husband Marv, and gave him the good news, then I sent off an e-mail to my priceless critique partners: Lorna, Shannon, Jerri, and Steph. Without them, I’d still be wandering in Unrecognized Land.
So, I’m Snoopy dancing and tinkering on my website when the phone rings again, a mere 18 minutes later. I told myself, “No, it couldn’t be.” Then I looked at the caller I.D. and I began to shake. I answered with a quiver in my voice and was told my Women’s Fiction entry is also a semi-finalist. And I thought I was speechless before!
I fired off another call to Marv and another e-mail to my critique partners.
And sent up a prayer of thanks.
After all, He is my audience and I know He’s celebrating with me.
Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me Heavenward in Christ Jesus.
Phillippians 3:13-14
Congratulations to all the Genesis semi-finalists!
