The hero, Richard Brooks, cannot accept forgiveness.
The heroine, Sheila Peterson, doesn’t realize that what she has done requires forgiveness.
And a third main character, Meghan Keene, refuses to forgive.
Matthew West wrote the song Forgiveness based upon a mother who forgave the drunk driver who killed her child (read that story <here>. Considering that Chain of Mercy is about a man who kills a teen in an auto accident, the words to this song really hit home.
