  1. Lord of the Rings is excellent at characterization. If you study the characters and the things that they say, they have unique dialogue for each character and certain behaviors. I’m not a huge LOTR fan, but I recognize it as excellent fiction!

      You’re so right about characterization. Each character in the LOTR series comes off as unique, and that’s a very difficult thing for authors to achieve with an ensemble cast, but Tolkien excels at it. C.S. Lewis does the same thing with the Narnia series.
