I Wrote a New Book!

I wrote a new book! Well, to be honest, it’s a novelette, but still it’s a new story, the first I’ve penned since 2023 as caregiving has taken up more and more of my time. My husband will always be my priority.

This started as a short story for The Mosaic Collection’s upcoming winter anthology, Fuzzy Socks and Firelight, but after sharing it with dear friend and author, Stacy Monson, I determined, because of the heavy topic, that it was not a good fit for the collection.

You see, it’s a story that stares Alzheimer’s in the face, and it’s not always pretty because the disease is far from pretty. But even in the face of the difficulties, there’s always Hope, and, as with every story I write, Hope is at the center even when—or especially when—life is tough.

About “Until Our Last Midnight” ~

When tomorrow steals yesterday, today is all that remains.

On New Year’s Eve, Libby and Vince vow to love through health and sickness, sealing their promise with a kiss bridging the old year with the new. Through twenty-five anniversaries, they honor that vow and faithfully recapture their year-bridging kiss.

But when Vince begins forgetting little things, their cherished tradition takes on a heartbreaking new meaning.

As Alzheimer’s slowly steals the memories they’ve shared, Libby discovers that real love isn’t measured by what we remember, but by the vows we choose to keep—especially when “in health and in sickness” becomes more than words spoken at an altar.

Tender, bittersweet, and filled with hope, “Until Our Last Midnight” is a poignant story about enduring love and the promises that remain even when memory fades.
