I began writing HANDS OF GRACE during 2019 when Alzheimer's was a brand new reality in our lives. I remember fighting with God about adding a dementia element to the story, making the argument that the disease was too new and too close to us for me to treat it with any objectivity. But, as always, God's plans are the best, and this story would not have the same depth without a dementia caregiver storyline. And it showed me the beauty of loving with hands of grace.Romantic Suspense * Undercover Protector * Redeemed Heroine * Twice-Burned Hero * C#AlzheimersAwarenessMonthenessMonth ... See MoreSee Less

I've been privileged to be a sensitivity reader for a couple of books featuring dementia. I love it that authors strive to get the situations right. One difficulty in offering help is that no people present the disease in the same way; not within the spectrum of dementia or even within Alzheimer's. So, I'll often say, "Here's my experience..." or "Here's what I would do in that situation..."And I've had too much experience with the disease: my mom had dementia, my FIL had Alzheimer's, and now my husband has early-onset Alzheimer's (which is different from regular Alzheimer's, so my husband's Alz isn't necessarily genetic.)All that said, I found Janine Rosche, Author's THE ROAD BEFORE US—a road trip on Route 66!—a compelling story that presented dementia in a believable and not stereotypical way. Also, as traveling Route 66 is on my bucket list, I was able to take the road through story.#ENDALZ #dementiafiction #AlzheimersAwarenessMonthDual time * Road Trip * Route 66 ... See MoreSee Less
