I Wrote Another Story!I made that announcement to my newsletter subscribers earlier today (they always get first dibs on news), so now you get to hear all about it.Twice a year The Mosaic Collection releases an anthology, and every year, once the theme and other specifics have been brainstormed, I start noodling on a story to fit. The problem is, caregiving always takes precedence, and my story plans fall to the wayside.But for our upcoming winter anthology, I was determined to contribute a story. I rejected my first idea, as it hit too close to what's going on in my life, and I developed another one. Then on a rare afternoon off, I sat at a Starbucks and wrote out the outline of that second story. The problem was the story I'd initially thought out kept whispering, "Write me!", and I finally listened.It took me a week to pen that first draft, with multiple interruptions that had me promising to never write a book again. Still, I poured out a great deal of wrenched emotions onto paper and finally typed The End. After sharing the story with a dear author friend, and taking her feedback to heart, I decided that it was not a good fit for Mosaic's winter anthology, although it technically met all the criteria.Rather, it is a story, albeit a short one, that needs to stand on its own. So, come mid-October, this story will be available to read. I'll reveal more later, but for now, I'll leave you with the title to pique your interest:"Until Our Last Midnight".Does this mean I'll have more short stories coming soon? As always, when plans are made for the "next" anthology, I'll come up with the perfect idea, but whether or not that story makes it into the collection will completely depend upon caregiving duties.Someday, though, I'll likely have a whole book's worth of unwritten short stories that will fill their own anthology! ...
